The first edition, second impression of the collected works of Thomas Hardy, published in the same year as the first impression, with no advertisements to the rear. Comprising some 'Wessex Tales,' 'Life's Little Ironies,' 'A Group of Noble Dames', and 'A Changed Man' and other tales. 

Thomas Hardy was a noted Victorian English novelist and poet; his writing was influenced by Romanticism and by a critical view of Victorian society. Much of his writing features tragic characters struggling under social circumstances,  often set in the semi-fictional region of Wessex. 

In a charming full morocco binding.

In a full morocco binding with pictorial endpapers illustrating Thomas Hardy's Wessex. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear and a minor bumping and chipping to the head and tail of the spine. With a touch of sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
