A beautiful first edition deluxe issue copy of the second volume of Winnie-the-Pooh stories published by A. A. Milne.

Methuen and Co. published 5,000 copies of the deluxe edition of of this work; 1500 in blue, 1500 in green and 2000 in red leather.

Charmingly illustrated throughout with the iconic anthropomorphic figures of E. H. Shepard.

Notable for being the first volume of stories from Milne to feature Tigger, this work also contains the invention of the game of Poohsticks.

With the loosely inserted contemporary owner's note 'with best of good wishes from Bro and Alice, May Riffie and Tom. Christmas 1928'.

Bound in the publisher's original green full calf with gilt detailing, this is a truly beautiful copy of one of the most important works of children's literature.

Condition

In the publisher's original full calf binding, with gilt detailing. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints. Otherwise, externally exceptionally lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
