Colour Plates, Uncommon

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with blind stamping to the front board and pictorial gilt to the spine. 13 plates, 5 colour plates including the frontispiece, and numerous illustrations in the text. Collated complete. Leonora Blanche Lang (1851-1933) is best known as the translator, collaborator and writer of The Fairy Books, a series of 25 collections of folk and fairy tales for children she published with her husband, Andrew Lang. This volume, written by Mrs. Lang and edited by her husband, contains 30 stories on a variety of subjects, including true stories, Greek myths, and stories from Alexandre Dumas, Walter Scott and Edgar Allan Poe. The text is accompanied by wonderful illustrations by Henry Justice Ford (1860-1941).

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with a little staining to the boards, minimal wear to the extremities and joints, and slight fading to the spine. Internally, the binding is weak between pages 16 and 17, but otherwise firm. Pages are generally clean with the odd spot.
