The work was formed following the creation of The Tail Wagger Club in September 1928. Marked as 'the magazine for dog lovers' the profusely illustrated periodical contains a great variety of dog related content; from reports from Crufts, to an article regarding a dog's ability to power a car using the force of its tail wagging. The collection also includes fictional dog stories, articles on famous people and their dogs, and dogs throughout history, from ancient Egypt and their worship of the animal, to sixteenth century dog armour. The contemporary advertisements are also of great interest, and reflect the changing products and food sold. Truly a charming collection, with countless charming articles on man's best friend. Bookplate of one 'H. E. Hobbs' to front pastedown of the one volume.
