The two volume fifth edition of this work, which was first published in 1898.

Illustrated with four-hundred and eleven vignette illustrations, and full page photographic images across the two volumes.

Author William Giuseppe Gulland spent most of his life as a merchant in the East, where he developed an interest in Chinese porcelain. In 1905 Gulland presented to the Victoria & Albert Museum one-hundred and eighty pieces of porcelain.

In this work, he discusses porcelain design and production from the earliest known specimens to the present day.

In the exceptionally attractive publisher's original cloth binding. 

With the front free endpaper of each volume removed.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. A touch of shelf wear to spine tails, otherwise externally fine. Front free endpaper of each volume removed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
