The Kindred of the Kibbo Kift was established in 1920 by John Hargrave, and aimed to encourage young people 'to seek health of body, mind, and spirit' through outdoor activities and fostered a belief in universal brotherhood without the nationalism and militarism of the Boy Scouts.

This is the first edition of Hargrave's stated declaration of the aims of the group, with chapters discussing the founding of the group, the author's belief that the Women's Movement has no place in his organisation, its relationship to Christianity and religion in general, the relationship between 'regional patriotism and the national spirit'. The final section discusses the human spirit.

A very scarce first edition, offering insight into an organisation who aimed to produce healthy and creative individuals to help the human race evolve into a society without war.
