What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

First edition, third impression, issued the month after the first and second impressions; February 1927.

'The Big Four' is a series of short cases containing four big villains rather than the investigation of a single crime. Christie derived this work from a series of linked short stories she first published in 'The Sketch' magazine in 1924.

One of Christie's early novels, this is the second appearance of the beloved Inspector Japp. Poirot is assisted by his sidekick, Arthur Hastings.

Issued just a year after the successful premiere of 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd' and just a few weeks after the disappearance and reappearance of Christie. Due to her name being in the public eye from the mystery of her vanishing the sales for 'The Big Four' doubled the success of 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd'. This probably explains why there was a second impression in the same month, and a third impression just one month after.

Without the very scarce dustwrapper, as is common.

An uncommon early Agatha Christie novel.
