The scarce first edition of this work, in the very scarce publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.
British Conservative politician Sir Samuel Hoare's account of his flight from London to Delhi, the first flight ever made between England and India in a civil machine, and 'points out the great Imperial uses to which civil and military aviation can be put'.
With an introduction from the author's wife, Lady Maud Lygon, who accompanied her husband and was thus the first woman to fly from England to India.
Illustrated with a number of vignette and full plate illustrations, including a number of contemporary photographs taken by the Hoare's in India.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper covered boards, with paper spine label and price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Some light discolouration to back strip and board tails. Small split in paper covering to head of front joint, not affecting binding. Rear board slightly bowed. Pictorial map endpapers. Front wrap detached from back strip and rear wrap of dust wrapper. Significant losses to back strip head and tail, and head and tail of rear wrap, with some further chipping. Tidemark to head of back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd handling mark.
