One of 350 sets printed by Bernard Newdigate for the Shakespeare Head Press. One of two in eight volumes, comprising volume I part the second with chapters 154-261. Limitation number unknown as lacking volume I part the first. 

The Chronicles are a prose history of the Hundred Years' War by Jean Froissart, written in the fourteenth century. These volumes have been recognised for centuries as the highest expression of chivalric culture of England and France. Translated into English by Sir John Bourchier Lord Berners.

Limited edition.

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally excellent, with minor shelfwear only. Slight bumping to head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Batchelor handmade paper bright and clean, with various leaves uncut. Hand coloured maps, heraldic head and tail pieces, coates-of-arms of English, Scottish, and Irish princes and knights.
