The first edition, first impression of this work, in the scarce publisher's original dust wrapper, clipped to all four corners as issued.

Loosely inserted is a signed postcard from publisher Faber & Gwyer, with Phillpotts's handwritten notice, 'with the author's complements'.

A novel about the relationship between Arachne and Pallas Athene.

Phillpotts was an English author, poet and dramatist, a personal friend and neighbour of Agatha Christie. He maintained an incestuous relationship with his daughter for three decades.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with dust wrapper clipped to all four corners, as issued. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper age toned to back strip, with small losses of paper to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
