The first edition, first impression of this work, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.
Inscribed by the author to the dedication leaf, dated 1926. Underneath the typed dedication 'To J. Keighley Snowdon in Friendship' in the handwritten notice 'from Eden Phillpotts'.
Snowdon was the author of about fourteen volumes of fiction from 1893 to 1937, including 'Barbara West' and 'Hate of Israel'. His works are now largely forgotten.
With a loosely inserted postcard from the publisher with the typed notice 'with the author's compliments'.
In this work, in order to prove he can design in miniature, Zeus creates our solar system, so that the Olpmpians can observe the progress of human life on a tiny scale. This begins with human evolution, and concludes with the splitting of the atom.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Boards bright. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with discolouration to spine. Dust wrapper lightly age toned to back strip, otherwise excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Inscribed to dedication leaf. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
