Illustrated with a frontispiece of the author fishing, as well as eleven black-and-white photograph plates. 

'The Happy Fisherman' by Walter M. Gallichan is a descriptive memoir of the author's experience with fishing throughout his lifetime. He starts by reminiscing upon his younger years and his initial interest in angling, before bringing the reader's attention to his modern-day journeys to different rivers and lakes. 

Contents include 'The First Day with the Trout', 'Days in Anglesey', 'Around Cader Idris', 'The Elysian Lakes', and 'Haunts of the Mayfly'. 

Walter M. Gallichan (1861-1946) was a British writer and journalist. Gallichan was one of the earliest members of staff the Daily Mail as well as one of the pioneers of sex education in Britain. His works covered a range of subjects, from his outdoor pursuits, namely fishing, to eugenics.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Cloth is bright, with some fading to margins of boards and spines. A bit of edge wear to extremities, as well as head and tail of spine. A few marks to front board. A bit of age-toning to paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Internally, firmly bound, with binding loosening a bit more towards middle of text. Pages are bright and very clean, with age-toning to margins. Plates are bright and clean.
