A fascinating volume collecting together 'forgotten material' first published in literary journal 'The Californian' between 1864 and 1867, a journal to which Bret Harte and Mark Twain made many contributions.
These articles provide great insight into California and San Francisco in the 1860s.
Condition
In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards, in price unclipped dust wrapper. Minor tide mark to back strip tail, otherwise externally excellent. Significant loss to dust wrapper back strip tail, and minor loss to back strip head. Back strip age toned. Ink mark to tail of front wrap. Significant tape repairs to dust wrapper reverse, covering significant closed tears to the back strip and flyleaf folds. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, but with instances of spotting to page perimeters.
