Illustrated, Very Scarce
Robert Borthwick Adam was an American retailer and book collector, whose collection of rare books and manuscripts relates to English Literature, particularly with a focus on Samuel Johnson.
This very scarce volume, privately issued in occasion of Christmas 1926, contains a series of facsimiles from his own collection, with signatures and portraits, manuscript extracts and more.
Condition
In a quarter cloth binding over paper covered boards. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some faint age toning to the boards. The head and tail of the spine and extremities is slightly bumped. With John Denham Austin's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint scattered spotting throughout. Illustrated with numerous facsimiles of portraits, signatures, and manuscripts throughout.
