A new form of cookery book, written to reveal delicious secrets and recipes of fine French cuisine, with advice of famous chefs and fine gastronomes collected by the author. Written by Edouard Nignon, a French chef and writer of cookbooks. Nignon became an apprentice at the Cambronne Restaurant at the age of 9, after more work in various kitchens, he arrived to Paris where he assisted famous chefs. He went on to serve the highest dignitaries, including the emperors Nicholas II of Russia and Franz Joseph I of Austria. With a preface by Robert de Flers, a French playwright, opera librettist, and journalist. Illustrated by P. F. Grignon, a French artist and illustrator.

Condition

Bound in full red crushed morocco with the original paper wraps bound in. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. Includes pockets to the front and rear pastedowns for the reader's only recipe collection. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the extremities.
