1926 Eighty Sketches In Water Colour From Nature
What Our Customers Say...
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Limited Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
Only two hundred and twenty copies of this beautiful book of paintings were printed, of which this is number sixty-one. A gorgeous collection of Russell Stephenson's water colours from nature, this limited edition book features sketches made all over the world, from Niagara Falls to The Old Inn in Mudeford, all originally done simply for the author's amusement. Put together to benefit the Princess Louise Hospital for Children in North Kensington, the work in this collection showcases the impressions of both 'youth and age' as the sketches were completed at various times in the artist's life, often with long periods between them, showing a the differences in treatment and technique. With 80 water coloured paintings reproduced from the artist's sketchbooks, collated complete. A beautiful book that captures both the loving hand of an 'amateur' artist and the wondrous scenes of nature before him.
