A delightful six volume set of the works of English poets and novelists Charlotte Bronte, and her sisters Emily and Anne, in charming full calf bindings. Consisting of various printings from John Murray's Haworth Edition, with volumes from 1926-1934.
Present here are: Anne Bronte's 'The Tennant of Wildfell Hall', the 1926 printing; Charlotte Bronte's 'The Professor and Poems', also from 1926; the 1932 printings of 'Jane Eyre' and 'Villette'; the 1933 volume of 'Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey', from Emily and Anne Bronte respectively, and the 1934 printing of Elizabeth Gaskell's 'The Life of Charlotte Bronte'.
With facsimile title pages of the first editions present in each volume.
Present here are six of the seven volumes of the Haworth Edition, with the 'Shirley' volume absent.
With a contemporary gift inscription to the front free endpaper of 'Jane Eyre', dated 1935.
With two loosely inserted advertisement for the works of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and eight pages of publishers advertisements to the rear of each volume.
Condition
In the publisher's original limp calf binding, with gilt detailing. Losses to back strip heads of four volumes, with rubbing to tails. Split to tail of 'Jane Eyre' back strip. With a contemporary inscription to the front free endpaper of 'Jane Eyre'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
