He was best known for his picaresque novels, such as 'The Adventures of Roderick Random' (1748) and 'The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle' (1751), which influenced later novelists such as Charles Dickens. Bound at the Riverside Press (binder's ink stamp to front endpaper).

Condition

In half-morocco bindings. Externally, smart, though with some bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Marks to the front board of the third volume. Six joints starting, with one joint cracked. One hinge is tender and may detach from the textblock edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
