Written and colourfully illustrated by Bernard Darwin and his wife Elinor Darwin. Bernard Darwin was the grandson of well-known naturalist Charles Darwin.

The first edition of this work. 

Illustrated with twenty-two full page plates in colour, collated and complete. 

In the publisher's original paper covered boards, with Mr. Tootletoo medallion to the front board.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards, with Mr. Tootletoo medallion to the front board. Externally, generally sound, with some light shelf wear and some age-toning to the paper boards. Binding is lifting slightly to the head of the spine. A few spots to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned to the extremities, but are otherwise bright and clean.
