Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
The first edition of The Drifting Cowboy, volume containing seven different stories following the adventures of a lanky cowboy named Bill.
Written by Will James, a French Canadian artist and Western writer, introduced into the Hall of Great Westerns of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1992.
Will James started his career as an artist and writer primarily during his time in prison. He was convicted for rustling in 1915, and used his drawing and writing skills to help him reintroduce himself in society and prove his social worth. Since then, he wrote and illustrated twenty-four volumes until his death in 1942.
His writing style is humorous and rustic, very representative of the society while his drawings really bring his characters to life and perfectly represent the real cowboy life.
