An undated copy, dated from the copy held at the British Library on Jisc, identified first edition through its unique pagination. A work concerning dog breeding with many hints and tips, and sections by leading breeders of the time on the various breeds of dogs, including Terriers, gun-dogs, sporting dogs, and more. With a vast section to the rear advertising various places where to buy a dog. 

Illustrated in text throughout. Signed by the author to the front free endpaper 'See page 71 (which comprises a chapter with simple remedies) With best wishes and many thanks,' dated 1925. 

From the library at Julian Park, Hertfordshire, belonging to Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie. Audrey was the youngest daughter of an Anglo-American lumber and steel millionaire, sister to Edward James, a key figure in the Surrealist movement, and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.

She was an English socialite known for her beauty and for charming various wealthy men, she was included in The Book of Beauty by Cecil Beaton. A patron of the arts, she assisted Viscount Carlow financially in the publication of limited editions of numerous works by leading literary figures such as T E Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, and others. A hedonistic pursuer, she was recognised as one of the 'Bright Young Things'. 


Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally vert smart with only minor shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, minor marking to the boards. Signed by the author to the front free endpaper 'See page 71 (which comprises a chapter with simple remedies) With best wishes and many thanks,' dated 1925. Internally, firmly bound. With a light foxing affecting the fore edge, only slightly affecting the leaves to the margins. Illustrated in text throughout with numerous photographs in black and white.
