A collection of charming images of old inns from across Great Britain, such as: The George Inn in Salisbury, The King's Head in Chigwell, The Angel Inn in Woolhampton, The Star Inn in Alfriston, and The Mermain Inn in Rye.
The work of Cecil Aldin, a British artist and illustrator known for his paintings and sketches of animals and sports.
With a contemporary inscription to a front blank.
This work is uncommon in any edition in the original dust wrapper.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Bump to back strip head. Fading to tail and joint of front board, with significant damp staining to rear board. A touch of worming to front joint with minor holes in the cloth, with board firmly held. Contemporary inscription to a front blank. Light sunning and handling marks to dust wrapper back strip. Major loss to back strip head, with further loss to back strip tail. Chip to tail of rear wrap, with closed tear to head of rear wrap. Three losses to head of front wrap, with small loss to tail of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
