The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with a frontispiece, a further 24 plates (one in colour), and two folding plates. Collated complete. An account of Frederick Lothrop Ames (1835-1893), a wealthy Massachussetts industrialist, and his improvement of the Guernsey cow in America in the first decades on the 20th century. Accompanying this account is a list of and history of the breeding of the Langwater herd, with photographs.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. A little shelf wear to the front board, joints and extremities, otherwise quite smart. Faint tide marks to the first few and last couple of pages, and to the plates, not affecting the text or images.
