A limited edition work, limited to two-hundred and fifty copies.

A unique and fascinating work, containing a plethora of facsimile autographs of literary figures from 1550 to 1650.

In three parts in the original portfolio, each part in its own envelope.

Part I focuses on the dramatists, Part II the poets, and part II of mainly prose writers.

Including the supplement section of scholars and archaeologists, including ten plates.

Each part is illustrated with thirty plates, each with a corresponding explanatory leaf describing the facsimile, with an extra appendix of ten plates to part III.

Part I includes Benjamin Jonson, Sir William Davenant, Abraham Cowley, Edward de Vere, and more. 

Part II includes Edmund Spenser, John Milton, William Drummond, Mary Herbert, Andrew Marvell, and more.

Part III includes John Knox, Richard Grafton, Francis Bacon, Izaak Walton, and more.

Appendix includes Queen Elizabeth, Kings James, and more.

Condition

In the original quarter cloth portfolio binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. A little discolouration to the boards and spine. Minor marks to the portfolio. Internally, disbound in envelopes as issued. Each envelope is a little worn with some small chips and closed tears, and a little discoloured. Plates are bright and clean, with only a couple of light spots.
