Illustrated, Signed, Very Scarce, With Letter
A fascinating historical account of the Mathews family in Llandaff, Wales.
Written by Gregory Mathews and compiled using information sourced from the seventeenth-century work Llyfr Baglan, published by J.A. Bradney in 1910, The History and Antiquities of the County of Cardigan published by S.R. Meyrick in 1808, Liber Landavensis published in 1840, along with many other works.
Including an ink inscription by Gregory Mathews to the front free-endpaper: 'To L. Harrison Mathews, From Gregory M. Mathews'.
Containing two full page plates illustrated from photographs, collated and assumed to be complete.
A newspaper clipping has been adhered to the front pastedown concerning the author's death, which occurred in 1949.
Including a letter from the author adhered to the front free-endpaper, along with a letter written to the author adhered to the rear pastedown.
Condition
In full cloth binding with gilt stamping to the front board. Externally, very smart, with spine slightly faded and minor bumping to the extremities. A newspaper clipping in relation to the author adhered to the front pastedown. A letter from the author taped to the front free-endpaper. An ink inscription from the author to the front pastedown. A drawing of a rooster taped to the verso of the title page. Internally, firmly bound.
