1924 The Works of J. M. Barrie
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
The 'Uniform Edition' of the works of J. M. Barrie.
Four volumes bound in two, the 'Uniform Edition' was published in twenty-two volumes.
These two volumes include 'Auld Licht Idylls', 'Window in Thrums', 'Sentimental Tommy', and 'Tommy and Grizel'.
Barrie is one of the most beloved Scottish authors of all time, with his children's tale 'Peter Pan' becoming one of the most classic pieces of children's literature ever.
Besides 'Peter Pan', Barrie wrote many other successful works, but his magical adventure always overshadowed his other publications, such as the four works included in these two volumes. Barrie was inspired to write Peter Pan by the Llewelyn Davies boys, and set the tale partly in Kensington Gardens, London. There's now a charming statue of the magical character in the Park.
His other notable works include 'The Little White Bird', an adult novel that ranges in tone from fantasy to whimsical dark social commentary.
