    The first edition of this work.

    A fascinating history of dance in Europe by Cecil J. Sharp and A. P. Oppé. With an introduction and in depth historical traits of folk dancing, social dancing, and spectacular dancing through the centuries, from the sixteenth century up to the twentieth, and an index to names and dances to the rear. Looking at various styles of dancing such as the Polka, Ballet, the Cotillon, and more.

    Collating complete with frontispiece and seventy five coloured plates as well as various illustrations in text throughout.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelfwear and slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The cloth to spine has slightly darkened. Inscribed by a previous owner to the front free endpaper, dated 1931. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Collating complete with frontispiece and seventy five coloured plates as well as various illustrations in text throughout.
