First edition. Highly illustrated throughout with 30 plates and 5 maps, 3 of which fold out. Collated complete. Written and illustrated by Alfred Dolman, a British explorer and writer, on his journey to follow in the footsteps of David Livingstone, a Scottish Christian missionary and explorer. Livingstone was one of the most popular British heroes of the late 19th century as an advocate of anti-slavery, imperial reforms and British commercial expansion. Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities and minor rubbing to the boards. Small splits to the head of the spine but joints remain firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
