Dated by the British Library. Illustrated with forty-eight colour plates. Collated complete. A collection of fables credited to the Greek fabulist and storyteller Aesop, who was believed to have lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE. Each tale is characterised for the use of anthropomorphic animal characters. Retold here by Blanche Winder, a British author. Illustrated by Harry Rountree, a prolific New Zealand-born English illustrator. Publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the original beige cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is smart with light shelf wear and chipping resulting in minor loss to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine and the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription and sticker to the front endpaper.
