A charming volume descriptive of the history and development of windmills around Europe, with text by Hayter Preston. The first trade edition of this work. 

Illustrative of windmills at Ramsgate, Campo de Crijitano (La Mancha), Bruges, Dunkirk, Cologne, and others.

Beautifully depicted with sixteen coloured plates by Frank Brangwyn, Welsh artist and printmaker, an artistic jack-of-all-trades, producing a wide variety of all sorts of work including stained glass, furniture, ceramics &c. Collated, complete. 

Cut-out front wrap as well as rear wrap, flyleaves, and part of the spine of the original dust wrapper is loosely inserted.

Condition

In the original publisher's full pictorial cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear, minor bumping to head and tail of spine, light soiling to boards. Dust wrapper worn, front wrap illustration neatly cut to the margins, front fly leaf and part of spine loose but present. Gift inscription to verso front free endpaper, dated 1932. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. With sixteen full page coloured plates. Collated, complete.
