A sumptuously illustrated edition of the Song of Songs, with English and Hebrew text on facing plates. The first trade edition of this work, published in the same year as a Limited Edition run of five hundred copies.
Illustrated with twenty-six tipped in, exceptionally bright, chromolithograph plates, accented in gold and silver, and with each retaining their original tissue guard. Collated, complete.
Illustrated by Ze'ev Raban, a leading artist of the Bezalel school style, and one of the founders of the Israeli art world. Designed at the famous Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem were Raban taught and worked, the work displays his customary art nouveau and orientalist influences.
In the publisher's original cloth, rebacked.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Rebacked, with boards restored and endpapers renewed. Light handling marks and discolouration to board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Plates exceptionally bright. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd light handling mark to perimeters.
