First edition. Illustrated with twenty-five coloured plates. Collated complete. A detailed and comprehensive ornithological study on rare and lost British birds compiled from notes by William Henry Hudson, an Anglo-Argentine naturalist and ornithologist. Species include pelican, crane, white spoonbill, avocet, great bustard, and many others. Written by Linda Gardiner, a British ornithologist. Illustrated by Henrik Gronvold, a Danish naturalist and artist, known for his illustrations of birds. He was among the last natural history illustrators to publish lithographs.
Condition
In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the endpapers.
