This work was written by Clara Colliver Rice and provides a study on the women of Persia, including their mannerisms, customs, religions, and lives. The work focuses on Muslim women and their treatment by their families and husbands.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally sound with a slight lean, slight fading to the spine, bumping to the extremities and to the tail of the front board, marks to the boards and spine, damp stains to the spine and head of the rear, a closed tear to the head of the spine with small closed tears to the head and tail and slight rubbing to the joints and to the fore edge of the boards. Bookplate belonging to a 'F. Diba' to the front free endpaper with a past owner's name in ink and another dated 1928 to the front pastedown. Front and rear hinges starting with offsetting to the rear free endpaper, spotting to the front endpapers and the odd mark to the rear. Internally, generally firmly bound with the odd page starting and lacking plates facing pp 160 and 192. Pages lightly age toned with spotting throughout and evidence of worming to the rear.
