Charles Edward Montague (1867-1928) was an English writer of novels, essays and articles, with a particular emphasis on his opposition to war. Montague fought in the First World War, despite being too old to enlist, and became an armed escort for important people visiting the battlefield, amongst them H. G. Wells and George Bernard Shaw.
Complete with an uncommon dust wrapper and the original spine label, with a spare preserved within.
In the publisher's original full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with the original spine label still; minor bumping to extremities. Dust wrapper has a small tape repair to the head internally and is a little sunned to the spine, which has a few marks, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean bar the odd spot.
