Description

Folding Maps, Illustrated, Very Scarce, With Letter

A thorough historical guide to the borough of Thetford, in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. Written by W.G. Clarke. This book is the very scarce third edition, and was primarily intended for travel, detailing how Thetford is accessible in so many modern ways (by rail, car, etc.). Containing twenty-three plates, including the frontispiece, many of which are photographs, as well as a folding map of Thetford, circa 1908. Previous owner's inscription to the front paper wrap: 'E.W., Aug 2, 1929.' This previous owner's pencil annotations can also be found on the rear free-endpaper. Also included are two pages of handwritten notes, presumed to date from 1929, given that the penmanship matches that of the previous owner's inscription on the front paper wrap. Also included is a newspaper clipping dated May 3, 1929 that discusses the history of Thetford.

Condition
