The third US printing of this work, which was first published in 1914.
In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper. Contemporary copies in dust wrappers are very scarce.
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and three monochrome plates by A. C. Michael. Collated, complete.
With the bookplate of American entomologist Melville Harrison Hatch to the front pastedown, and his inscription to the front free endpaper, stating that this was a gift from his mother. Hatch is responsible for the identification and naming of thirteen species of beetles.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Bookplate to front pastedown, and inscription to front free endpaper. Light handling marks to dust wrapper rear wrap, with light chipping to back strip head, and minor closed tears to back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
