Set in South America this novel features a fictional Pre-Columbian transoceanic contact between a medieval Englishman and the Incas, centering on Hubert of Hastings, a London merchant at the time of King Richard II. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light bumping and rubbing to the extremities, particularly to the joints. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1922. With tide marks to the rear endpapers.
