First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, fifty-five plates, and a folding map to the rear. Collated complete. An account of the journeyings of the Mackie Ethnological Expedition in Central Africa, with reference to the lives and ways of the people visited and the tribes interacted with. Includes chapters on Mombasa, Nairobi, Kampala, Ankole, Bunyoro, Lake Kioga, Mount Elgon, Busoga, and more. Written by John Roscoe, an Anglican missionary to East Africa who conducted anthropological data collection of the Africans he encountered on mission.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. A small split in the cloth to the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers.
