Illustrated, Limited Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Xavier de Maistre of Savoy was a military man, mainly known as a French writer. This short novel is the touching story of leprosy, told through a conversation between a soldier and a leper, who reminisces about his lost youth and stolen life spent in a tower with a view of the Alps. In the original French. 

One of three hundred copies printed on Arches paper, this copy number two hundred and thirty seven. 

Decorated in text with woodcuts by Carlègle, Swiss-born illustrator and painter. Complete with its glassine dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, light spotting and age toning to the wraps, minor chipping to the head and tail of the spine. The dust wrapper is lacking the spine, separating the front from the rear wrap, unclipped, with a slight shelf wear and chipping to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Odd minor spotting to the odd leaf, otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Illustrated in text with woodcuts by Carlègle.
