First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First two volumes of Julian Corbett's official history of British naval operations during World War I. The author published these volumes in 1920 and 1921, but died before agreeing final corrections to vol. 3 which was published in 1923. Later maps volumes accompany volume 1 and 3. 

These volumes open with chapters concerning the preparation for war and the opening movements and close with an account of the loss of the Lusitania, the Italian convention, and the resignation of Lord Fisher and Mr. Churchill and formation of a coalition government. 

Illustrated with maps and plans, numerous folding to vol. 2. Second volume features also all five large folding maps inserted to rear pockets.

Condition

In the original publisher's uniform full cloth bindings. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, minor bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
