Illustrated with a twelve plates, eight of which are in colour, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete. 

Thomas Smith's 'Diary of a Huntsman' offers a spectrum of guidance on fox-hunting, from managing and training hounds, kennels and stables, and how to get acquainted with the nature of animals as a whole. 

Smith served as Master of the Craven Hounds and of Pytchley, Northamptonshire. 

With an introduction by Lord Willoughby de Broke, a British peer and conservative politician who also wrote 'Hunting the Fox' (1921). 

With a majority of leaves uncut.

Condition

In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional spots.
