First Laurie's Colonial Edition. A collection of short stories, including: 'Magepa the Buck', 'The Blue Curtains', 'Little Flower', 'Only a Dream', and 'Barbara Who Came Back'. The title story was serialized in Strand Magazine, between December 1912 and February 1913. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Printed by J. W. Arrowsmith Ltd., so this issue also contains the original first edition misprints: p. 48, line 23 - "truck" should be "struck". p. 58, line 26 - "Man-kau-ra" should be "Men-kau-ra". As cited in A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1925 by J. E. Scott.
Condition
In the original blue cloth binding. Externally smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the extremities. Light scattered spotting to the endpapers.
