A first UK edition copy of this work in the publisher's original tan cloth binding, with black lettering to the front board and spine.
A collection of short stories by H. Rider Haggard (1856-1925), an author best known for his adventure fiction, and as a pioneer of the lost world literary genre.
The title story was serialized in Strand Magazine, between December 1912 and February 1913. Other stories in this collection include: 'Magepa the Buck'; 'The Blue Curtains'; 'Little Flower'; 'Only a Dream'; and 'Barbara Who Came Back'.
All issue points correspond with Scott, 75, including the misprints to pages 48 and 58.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with only light shelf wear to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Pages are age toned but clean.
