The first edition of this work. 'The Natural History of Sport in Scotland With Rod and Gun' in an instructive guide to the sports of shooting in Scotland, written with first-hand experience. The topics covered in this work include instruction on the purchase or leasing of a sporting estate, ground vermin, trout-fishing, partridge shooting, the management and training of dogs, game preserving, and much more. Written by Tom Speedy, the author of 'Sport in the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland'. With a frontispiece, twenty-eight plates, and in-text illustrations. Illustrated by John Guille Millais. Millais was an artist, traveler, and naturalist, who is known for his art specialising in wildlife and flowers. Millais was the son of the Pre-Raphaelite artist John Everett Millais and his wife Effie Gray. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. A little marking to the boards. Some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'G. G. J. Bell, Feb 1922'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only the every occasional light mark.
