The first trade edition of this work, published with a limited edition signed by the artist. James Stephens' noted retelling of ten Irish folktales, with setting in mediaeval Ireland and featuring fairy-tale characters such as fairies, warriors, kings, concerning subjects of Irish mythology. 

With black and white illustrations in text as well as sixteen charming colour plates by famous illustrator Arthur Rackham. Collated, complete. 

This copy is in excellent conditions internally, with clean pages and firm binding.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally generally sound with shelf wear, chipped to head and tail of spine, rubbed along the joints, bumping to extremities of the boards. With a damp marking affecting the boards. Previous owner's pencil inscription to front free endpaper dated 1926. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. With black and white illustrations in text as well as sixteen full page colour plates by Arthur Rackham, each protected by tissue guard. Collated, complete.
