Solomon Eagle was the pseudonym for J. C. Squire a British writer. This copy is signed J. C. Squire to the front pastedown, with a bookplate for Philip Gosse, the English Naturalist.
This is a first edition copy of the second series of Books in General. The papers are a selection from a series contributed weekly to the New Statesman. Some of the papers include The Descendants of Shakespeare, The Diary of Charles Pooter and Thomas Traherne.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some light bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Some light fading to the spine and rubbing to the spine label. This copy is signed J. C. Squire to the front pastedown, with a bookplate for Philip Gosse. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
