In the original Danish. Gustav Johannes Wied was a Danish writer best known for his satires. His works exposed the failings and hypocrisies of contemporary society, particularly the ruling classes, and he was even imprisoned for a seditious short story.

Condition

In half calf bindings. Externally, sound though somewhat rubbed in places. Spines to volumes 3-8 faded though spines to volume 1-2 retaining their colour. Wear to the heads and tails of the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright aside from light spotting to the first and last few pages, particularly to the frontispiece at volume I. Related ephemera loosely inserted.
