What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

First edition, complete two volume set.

Bound in half crushed-morocco on cloth boards.

Illustrations include thirty plates to both volumes, eleven of which are in colour.

This is an informative ornithological handbook which provides information on numerous bird species within the United Kingdom. This handbook was originally issued in eighteen parts, between 1919 to 1924, with numerous contributors such as Ernst Hartert, Annie C. Jackson, and Norman F. Ticehurst.

This work was a precursor to Withbery's popular 'Handbook of British Birds', which provided an 'enlarged and revised version' to this handbook and was published between 1938-1941.

Volume I includes an introductory note, a glossary of terms, and information from the genus corvus (the crow) to riparia forst (the sand-martin).

Volume II includes information on birds from the order cypseli (swift) to the alectoris rufa (partridge).

With blank pages to the rear of Volume I to make notes on.

Collated, complete.
