Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Signed Binding

The first edition of the first eight consecutive issues of Walker's Quarterly, an illustrated periodical providing biographies of artists. With the eight issues in two bright quarter calf signed bindings by Lloyd London, with their binder's stamp to the verso of front free endpaper.

The issues present are:

No. 1, October, 1920: Henry Bright, illustrated with nine plates, three in colour.

No. 2, January, 1921: William Roxby Beverley, illustrated with ten plates, one in colour.

No. 3, April 1921: Charles Bentley, with eight plates, two in colour.

No. 4, July 1921: Edmund Morison Wimperis, with nine plates, two in colour.

No. 5, October 1921: Joseph Farington, with nine plates, one in colour.

No. 6, January 1922: William Payne, with six plates, two in colour.

No. 7, April 1922: Claude Hayes, with nine plates, two in colour.

No. 8, July 1922: John Laporte, with six plates, two in colour.

With the contemporary inscription of Elizabeth Seymour Drew to the front free endpaper of each volume.

A lovely copy of this wonderful periodical providing detailed insight into the lives and works of famous artists.

Condition

In quarter calf signed bindings, with bright marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strips, with rubbing most concentrated to head of volume I. Inscription to front free endpaper, with binder's stamp to verso. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
