What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The true first edition, which had a print run of 1000 copies.

This work is an example of Lewis' work in the immediate post-vorticist period and is "a product of Lewis's chastened sensibility following his service in the Great War" (Foshay, T A, Wyndham Lewis and the Avant-Garde: The Politics of the Intellect, 1992, pp.6).

Former owner's inscription in pencil to the recto of front endpaper. This inscription explains that the former owner has 'not had time to read this yet' and discusses logistics of them getting the work back so they can read the work. This inscription has been crossed out with pencil.

Without the scarce publisher's flyer for Lewis's debut novel 'Tarr'.

Wyndham Lewis is probably best known as the co-founder of Vorticism and as editor of the literary magazine 'BLAST'.

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, worn to the spine with loss. Chips to the extremities which are rubbed. Binding is extremely tender and held by one cord only at page 16. The rest of the binding is strained. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
